Stainless Steel 904L Sheet / Plate is made up of a composition with nickel, chromium, molybdenum, copper and manganese. The nickel content can range from 23 to 28% in the composition. Because of the composition, the material gets more corrosion resistance than the 316 material. Also, with the addition of copper, the material is resistant to mild acids. The SS 904L coil is used in heat exchangers and in high temperature applications because of their high melting range of 1300 to 1390 degrees Celsius. The 1.4539 Plate is a standard which governs the thickness of the sheets and plates. There are different specifications to cover the sheets and plates as well. The 904L plates and sheets fall under the astm b625 sheet specification. The material could be easily welded and could be fabricated. It can be cold formed or hot formed. The 904L stainless steel strip is used to produce pipes and other accessories. The strips are also used in structural elements to provide extra strength. The 220MPa minimum yield strength and the 490MPa minimum tensile strength allow the ASME SB625 Shim to be very effective in shock absorption and connecting two parts together.
